The threat of flood disasters is intensifying, making it crucial to formulate a strategic plan and key research directions for the future development of global flood risk models. This thematic session will conduct a comprehensive international assessment of the technical characteristics, advantages, and limitations of existing flood risk models, in order to foster interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration and communication, and to drive significant progress in the technology and application of these models. We will delve into the applicability and accuracy of these models in diverse geographical environments and under various climatic conditions. Additionally, this thematic session will share the practical application outcomes of flood risk models in areas such as disaster warning, emergency management, and urban planning, and clarify the development needs and challenges of flood risk models at different scales (such as regional, national, and global).
