Description
The UAE National Meteorological Centre confirmed on 17 April 2024 that the country had experienced the heaviest rainfall in the last 24 hours since records began in 1949. In Dubai, the equivalent of an average of one and a half to two years of rain fell on the day, flooding the tarmac at Dubai International Airport and halting flights for more than two hours. Heavy rains also hit parts of Oman, Bahrain and Qatar, AFP reported. In Oman, heavy rains on the 14th and 15th have caused flooding, killing at least 19 people.
